Why Do Similar Pieces of Jewelry Have Such Varying Costs?
The old saying 'you shouldn't judge a book by its cover'? can apply to this situation. Just because two pieces of jewelry look similar, doesn't mean they're exactly alike. For example, two one-carat diamond solitaire rings may look similar, but the weight of the gold band, the purity of the gold and the quality of the diamond will affect the price of the two rings. 14k gold will be less expensive than 18k gold and 10k gold will be less expensive than 14k gold. A quality diamond will cost more than a highly included diamond.
When buying a piece of jewelry, you shouldn't go by price or looks alone. Look into what karat the gold is, the quality of the stone and the carat weight of the stone. As with all things, when it comes to jewelry you get what you pay for.
