Gems brought to us courtesy of nature, with no interference from humans, are Genuine Gemstones. By the time they appear in our jewelry they've been cut or polished, but they've not been treated or altered in other ways.
Natural gemstones are genuine gems that have been treated or enhanced in some way. They're "real," even if they've been enhanced in some way. The enhancing might be conducted to deepen or even out the color. Natural gemstones may also be coated with oil to produce a deep lustrous sheen and to protect the stones from cracking.
